About Annandale Arms Hotel and Restaurant
"Right in the centre of the charming Scottish Border town of Moffat, hiding behind a rather grand Georgian facade, you can find a small smart boutique style hotel. Do not be fooled by the Scottish appearance of the reception area. There is nothing traditionally Scottish about this hotel.
The bedrooms are chic. The service is efficient and friendly. The restaurant food is to die for. They have the best beef that you can find anywhere in the world. If you are thinking of eating here it is advisable to book dinner bed and breakfast. There is an extensive but good value wine list and the bar has a large selection of single malt whiskies.
Our bedroom over looked the private court yard at the rear of the building with fine views of the Moffat Hills in the distance. The bed was something else. It is so delightful to have a good quality mattress on a hotel bed instead of the usual straw filled sack that passes for a sleeping platform supplied by some faceless chain hotel. Did I mention this hotel is privately owned.
Moffat is a beautiful place. Living in the Wirral we visit on a regular basis when travelling to our place in north. We have stayed in most of the hotels in the area and find the Annandale Arms stands head and sholders above the rest. It could not be more conveniently placed right in the centre of town yet with its own private car parking and most importantly well away from the karoke bars at the bottom of town. That is another story!
I whole heartedly recommend the Annandale."
